Our annual conference was a huge success this year. It was held in Berkeley at the Claremont Resort & Spa which was built in the 19th century by a young prospector who had “hit gold”. He lived in his castle until it was turned into a hotel in 1915. Our attendees enjoyed the magnificent views of the San Francisco Bay and the Oakland Bay Bridge while listening to the speakers and visiting the vendor exhibits.
We started the conference off with Laura Bolton PhD., speaking on Pay for Performance then Mikel Gray, PhD., CUNP, CCCN, FAAN, on Indwelling Catheters in the Acute Care Setting: Focus on Catheter Associated urinary Tract Infections. Robert Harwood, LUTF, CLF, AGA presented Retirement & Health Planning.
The following day Curtiss Stinis MD presented Catheter based Interventions for Critical Limb Salvage; Salih Bibi MD presented Clostridium Difficile; Pat Timm RN, Esq. presented Legal Aspects of Nursing Documentation ; and the day ended with a patient panel.
Closing the conference were Shelly Burdett-Taylor RN MSN CWCN PhD on Health, Hope & Humor; Donna Thompson MSN FNP with an overview of the WOCNCB and Geriatric Incontinence; and our very own Susan Komanetsky RN MSN CWOCN on Perfecting Precepting and Building Effective Perceptorship Programs.
We had eighteen first time attendees. They are Edna Baldonado, Jennifer Barnes, Mary Kay Barrett, Claudia Benton, Priscilla Brinker, Carole Carlson, Darlene Caruso, Michaella Carvalez-Sarinas, Marilyn Foster, Sue Hantke, Eileen Jiminez, Julie Lientz, Ruth McMyn, Cathryn Pauley, Janis Prado, Linda Shiraishi, Jean Wagner, Ann Marie Whaley.
Congratulations to Deborah Zaricor RN, CWOCN (recipient of Rising Star Award) and Denise Barton RN, CWCN, BSN (recipient the President Award)!
