Dear Ostomy Nurse Peers: I am a retired Wound Ostomy Coordinator from VA Mather and very much interested in improving access to care for ostomates. Since my retirement of 1 year ago, I have been working with two ostomy support groups. This has been a rewarding experience but also frustrating as access to ostomy care/nurses is very difficult to locate. The Placerville Support Group is planning an Ostomy Awareness Day on 10/8/2022 from 10:00 to 3:00.
We will feature speakers, vendors and offer food/drinks.
I am hoping to provide ostomy assessments if I can get 2 more ostomy nurses to volunteer for a couple hours on that day. If you have any availability please contact me via phone (916) 838-5928 or email joycemoss08@comcast.net I hope to be able to provide an ostomy resource list before the year ends. I need your contact information: name/location of clinic; hours of operation; any availability for telephone consults; payer source(s); and if a referral from MD required. I plan to make this list available to all the colorectal surgeons in the area, Home Health agencies, health providers and support group members. Please provide your information via phone (916) 838- 5928 or email joycemoss08@comcast.net I thank each one of you in advance for being willing to participate in making ostomy care accessible. Without you our ostomates are failing and falling through many loopholes. Again much thanks for your help,
Joyce Moss
